Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as PvE damage and crit chance.

If the template for upgrading a weapon ends in %, it will be able to gain 3% of its previous damage every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the level of the item increases.

Components

upgrade item components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give an additional stat boost or effect while they're in use. These can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue level before the component can be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging gear from the ascended, or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may have a prefix or suffix, modifying the name of the equipment to the upgrade (for examplefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). A 'boost' upgrade items can change the attack or defense attributes of the weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop or getting them from enemies while upgrading other equipment.

Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of the item will be available at the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep improving their equipment even if they're uncertain of how much they'll improve following a subsequent reset.

Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process could be costly and there is a high chance that the item could become obsolete or even break when it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that double or even eliminate the possibility of failure, as well as a few upgrades that give an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs as well as also a few rare Glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Leveling

The upgrade system of items allows players to boost the stats of specific items by inserting upgraded components. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with an amount that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items may be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level requires a different number of components to reach and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is leveled up.

Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of the crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields some Technology Points. These points can be used to level up the item, and when enough are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When the player improves a piece of equipment, the base item will be replaced by an item that is new. The same armor will receive the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own set bonus. This can be a disadvantage, as it can make the item more expensive if you don't need it.

item Upgrades (www.google.Gr) can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens to be able to do this. The item will be replaced with an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be beneficial, but shouldn't be done often as it could waste resources.

Certain upgrades can boost their value, allowing players to customize their gear. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or does not swim as dolphins). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time increasing the max roll by 10 points. This item is highly important in PvP. A perfectly rolled version could be worth up to 50x the value of the non-upgraded version.

Requirements

The upgrader for items allows players to increase the level of their equippable equipment (armor weapons, weapons trinkets, and weapons) above ilvl385 by presenting the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrading armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of the piece, whereas upgrading weapons will increase the base damage and the strength and dexterity required to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear that can have eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade an item, it is given an opportunity to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you go beyond the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can result in the item reverting to its initial state and the player having to spend additional items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.

If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it earned like chances to be crit, attack damage, or other effects (such as increased heal over time or the speed of reloading). However, the player can continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded increases its crit chance that it will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the item's definition and the value is calculated each time an upgrade items is made.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to its base value.
